Extension Hanger

The Extension Hanger

The extension hanger was mainly used on the M-1917 Medical Belt (both officer and enlisted versions) to lower the M-1910 canteen approximately 1 1/4th inches below the belt to prevent the top of the canteen from rubbing on the bottom of the pouches. It was made from a small piece of canvas webbing with two grommets, one on each side, and above that was a loop with a metal hook. The canteen cover’s hook would attach to the grommets, then the extension hanger’s hook would attach to the medical belt. The extension hanger was un-marked.
