The Model 1904 Saddlebags

These saddlebags were designed to fit with the McClellan saddle but could also be used on a motorcycle. The set consists of two leather bags attached by a long, wide piece of leather that acted as a connector and has a hole in the middle for mounting on a post. Each bag has three straps with three buckles for securing the contents. On each flap is an embossed “US” in oval. Each bag also came with its own white cotton bag for storage inside the bag.

These were used widely during WWI and beyond due to their toughness and versatility. Some can be seen cut from the long leather connector strap and with the addition of a carrying strap, used as a personal bag.
